Maximize the Impact of FSU's Human Capital

Metric Chart: Actual and Planned Percent of TaxWatch Productivity Awards Given to Florida SUS That Were Received by FSU. 2023 Goal: 60% of awards. 2018 calendar year baseline: 50%. 2019 calendar year progress: 75%. 2020 calendar year progress: 67%. 2021 calendar year progress: 48%. 2023 calendar year goal: 60%.


Tactics

Evaluate the work climate at FSU

FSU desires to be recognized as a great place to work. As part of the strategic plan, HR will conduct employee climate surveys to assess employee needs and new opportunities.

Expand professional and career development

FSU employs a high quality workforce and seeks to retain that talent by expanding professional and career advancement programming to promote personal growth.

Promote and recognize staff excellence

FSU will promote the entrepreneurial and innovative pursuits of its employees by expanding recognition for staff excellence.


Activities and Accomplishments

  • Florida State University received most 2020 Florida TaxWatch Awards of any state university. For the fifth consecutive year, FSU employees claimed a total of 14 Florida TaxWatch Productivity Awards, the most by any institution in the State University System.
  • The Office of Human Resources launched its 2020-2023 Strategic Plan. The three Strategic Initiatives of the plan are HR Performance Excellence, Talent Management, and Total Rewards Programs.
  • A new and rebranded Office of Human Resources’ website was launched to better promote FSU as a workplace-of-choice within and outside of the University.
  • A new Professional Communications Certificate Series was designed and launched. The new professional development program helps employees develop confidence and clarity in communication that complements their professional skills and supports their career growth at Florida State University.
