Tactics
Increase enrollment in E&I courses
We will develop new, and increase enrollment in existing, undergraduate and graduate E&I courses while specifically targeting E&I enrollments for students in the University Honors Program. Enrollment will be incentivized at the undergraduate level by adding these courses to Academic Maps in select majors and by creating themed internships.
Build events to promote E&I
We will promote entrepreneurship and innovation to our students by engaging more of them in E&I competitions and events, mentor nights; and by highlighting the accomplishments of current and former members of the FSU community.
Increase participation in E&I incubators
FSU will continue to encourage participation in E&I incubators and maker spaces like the FSU Innovation Hub and the DOMI Station while looking to expand the number of venues and mentoring, funding and collaboration opportunities.
Activities and Accomplishments
- In Fall 2019, the Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship became the nation’s first stand-alone college of entrepreneurship.
- Seven recent graduates who made their mark as entrepreneurs were honored at the annual “7 Under 30” event that took place on November 18. Susan Fiorito, Dean of the Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship, said that “the businesses, products and processes they have created boost their local, regional and statewide economies and enrich the lives of all of us.”
- Over the last five years, undergraduate student enrollment in entrepreneurship and innovation courses increased by 73%, while course offerings increased by 143%.
- The Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship announced the launch of two new graduate degree programs. Beginning in Fall 2020, the college offer a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship (MSE) degree in Product Development and a Master of Science in Hospitality Entrepreneurship degree in conjunction with the Dedman College of Hospitality.
- The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, in the Florida State University College of Business, graduated 37 military veterans and veteran family members who run small businesses from its inaugural Resilience. Innovate. Sustain. Evaluate. (R.I.S.E.) program.
Outcomes
