Strengthen the University’s Financial Foundation

Tactics

Diversify and increase operating income

FSU will diversify and increase operating income by increasing annual commissions from revenue producing contracts and by improving billings and collections on auxiliary accounts.

Reduce operational expenses

FSU will build upon its history of efficiency by reducing operating expenses and by optimizing the procurement of goods and services.

Increase external investment in FSU

FSU will use its improved academic stature to increase both grant funding and cash donations to the university.


Activities and Accomplishments

  • Raise the Torch fundraising campaign surpassed its goal, raising over $1.15 billion.
  • For the ninth consecutive year, FSU has maintained its Top 5 standing as the nation’s most efficient university among S. News & World Report national colleges.
  • FSU became the only public university in the state, and fourth in the country, to attain an AA+ rating from Fitch bond rating company.
  • S&P assigned the University its highest rating of AA+ making it the only university in the State of Florida, as well as only one of nine universities in the country, to receive such a rating.
  • Kiplinger Personal Finance ranked Florida State University No. 9 on its latest list of best values in public colleges. Florida State University is among the two most affordable universities in the top 20 public universities as measured by S. News & World Report.
  • Florida State University’s Dedman College of Hospitality received a $1 million donation by the family of Cecil B. Day to establish and support a slate of academic initiatives at the school.
